Looks like you're new here. Get all the fun of 52 Novels as it happens and subscribe by e-mail or subscribe using your favorite RSS feed reader. Might as well. Don't cost nothin.

I first wrote about DBA Lehane in this post. He blips on my radar screen again today with his Short Short Short Short Short Short Fiction Competition.

The rules:

  1. The story’s gotta be six words long. It’s doable… see Hemingway.
  2. Any genre. Any subject.
  3. Leave it untitled.
  4. E-mail it to him by midnight (GMT) on December 31, 2006 with the words “Short Short Short Short Short Short Fiction Competition” in the subject.
  5. One entry per person.

The winner, as judged by Lehane, gets an original piece of artwork (he’s also an artist under the moniker windscreen fly), the complete collection of Ernest Hemingway’s short stories and a mystery prize. He’ll contact the winner on January 7, 2007 and announce them the next day. He’s also gonna publish all entries sometime after that.

Now get to writing… it’s only six words!

Many thanks for promoting this here! For anyone considering entering I would advise them to consider how Hemingway conveyed a complete story in 6 words. However, irrespective of how good or bad people think they are, ANYONE can write six words, so please get entering!

Happy to help. It’s a great idea!

And look for my submission, too.
