The Guns of HeavenInternational political and social intrigue keeps this retro-thriller taut. The IRA. The American religious right.

Guns. Money.

Kidnapping. Assassination.

It’s on-the-edge-of-your-seat good.

The Poet

by Rob @ 52 Novels on August 24, 2006

The PoetI opened the book and knew it.

But, still, I read right through it.

It was tight as a drum,

and I sometimes felt dumb,

’cause Connelly never once blew it.

The gauntlet has been laid

by Rob @ 52 Novels on July 12, 2006

OTR Joe sends this update from the road on behalf of fellow genre writer M.J. Rose. In the way that Konrath has taken to the literal highway to promote his latest novel, Rusty Nail, Rose is taking to the Internet to promote her latest, The Venus Fix. She wants 500 bloggers to pass the word about her latest Dr. Morgan Snow thriller.

But Rose’s effort comes with a twist: For each of the 500 bloggers who promote the book, she’ll donate $5 to charity. Plus, for every MySpace friend request she gets at myspace.com/venusfix, she’ll donate a buck. The total goal is $2500.

And while you’re busy clicking links, here’s a couple more nifty ones for the book:

Straight Cut

by Rob @ 52 Novels on July 9, 2006

Straight CutNew review posted in the library: Madison Smartt Bell’s Straight Cut.

A tale of love and betrayal, it’s action packed with a taut narrative. Smart (there’s a pun again) writing and a real thriller. I loved it.

Good stuff, crime fiction fans.
